Canon Australia complements retail channel with local online store
Canon Australia today announced the launch of a new local online store offering consumers the option of purchasing a range of products and accessories directly from Canon Australia. The move is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed to drive local market growth and deliver consumer value locally.
“We’re responding to a rapidly changing retail environment by introducing an online experience that complements our existing retail network and gives those consumers who wish to make their purchases online an option to do so locally,” said Jason McLean, Director – Canon Consumer Imaging, Canon Australia. “We are evolving in step with the global marketplace, and we are focussed on attracting consumer attention to Canon and the range of options to buy locally.”
“There’s clearly a need to have a presence where all consumers choose to shop, which now includes the online environment. Ultimately we want all people to be able to choose Canon and buy with complete confidence and in a manner that suits them – whether it is from one of our authorised retail partners or directly from us from our online store.”
The Canon online store features a select range of Canon’s consumer products, including digital compact cameras, entry-level digital SLR cameras, digital video cameras, printers, calculators, binoculars, accessories and printer consumables.
While Canon does not expect online sales to be a significant amount of its annual revenue in 2011, the company will monitor how the site is received by consumers and expects it will continue to evolve over time.
Earlier this month Canon also announced more than 95 Recommended Retail Price repositions and a total campaign investment of around $15m aimed at stimulating local demand.
The Canon Store will launch to the public on Monday 29 August 2011 and can be found at http://store.canon.com.au
