Toshiba
( 1 items )
About Toshiba
Toshiba's early history has two strands: 1875 saw the establishment
of Tanaka Seizo-sho (Tanaka Engineering Works), Japan's first
manufacturer of telegraphic equipment. Its founder, Hisashige Tanaka
(1799 - 1881), was well known from his youth for inventions that
included mechanical dolls and a perpetual clock. Under the name
Shibaura Seisaku-sho (Shibaura Engineering Works), his company became
one of Japan's largest manufacturers of heavy electrical apparatus. In
1890, Hakunetsu-sha & Co., Ltd. was established as Japan's first
plant for electric incandescent lamps. Subsequent diversification saw
the company evolve as a manufacturer of consumer products. In 1899, the
company was renamed Tokyo Denki (Tokyo Electric Co.).
In
1939, these two companies, leaders in their respective fields, merged
to form an integrated electric equipment manufacturer, Tokyo Shibaura
Denki (Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co., Ltd.). The company was soon well
known as 'Toshiba,' which became its official name in 1978.

About
Crumpler began in 1995 in Melbourne and began in direct response to the need for very
durable (and visible) bags for bicycle couriers, who really give their equipment a good
thrashing. They were soon available in a wide range of styles, colour combinations and
sizes. This was also the answer to the hundreds of poor quality, anonymously designed
black bags that were boring the hell out of the market at the time. Crumpler branched
out into IT, photo bags and accessories, and the products became popular in Australia
and internationally.
The famous logo came from a scribble-like stick figure, a branding iron which Stuart
burnt onto his furniture pieces. This ‘brand’ was burnt into a polystyrene box (just
for fun) – it looked great, and subsequently was scanned and patented!
Crumpler’s spirit is rooted in iconoclasm, wackiness and irreverence (or is that total
irrelevance?). The notoriety of our products continues to grow in response to their
legendary durability, great style, and the wide choice of sizes, colours and functions.
Crumpler hasn’t lost sight of its origins - the fundamental factor is fun!

About
Oskar Barnack's genius idea of creating the small format 35mm camera
created a revolution in photography in 1925, paving the way for the
birth of the Leica Legend. His diminutive, lightweight LEICA A offered
a new, undreamed-of freedom in reportage and artistic photography. From
that point to the present day, Leica has had a profound influence on our
view of the world we live in.
What was started in 1914 with the Ur-Leica quickly turned into a lasting
success. In 1932, around 90,000 cameras were already in use. By 1961, the
number had increased to a million. Milestones in the development include
the rangefinder cameras such as the legendary LEICA M3 in 1954 and the M6
in 1984. The R-System commenced in 1976 with the LEICA R3 - the first
electronic Leica. In 1989, the first compact point-and-shoot model entered
the market. 1998 also saw the launch of the first digital camera - the
LEICA DIGILUX. Without exception, all developments are focused on the
requirements of the user and are characterized by the highest quality,
focus on essential functions, and comfortable user-friendly controls.

About Olympus
In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus
was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world
famous products.
"Olympus" has been used as a trademark since the time of Takachiho Seisakusho, the predecessor
of Olympus Corporation.
In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara,
the peak of Mt.Takachiho. The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus,
like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the
aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara
brought light to the world.
Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products
became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical
Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.
And in 2003, the company made a fresh start as Olympus Corporation, to show its willingness
to establish a dynamic corporate brand by unifying the corporate name and the well-known
brand.
In recent years, Olympus Corporation has focused on "Opto-Digital Technology" as its core
competence, technological strengths that competitors cannot easily imitate, to maximize
corporate value and to become one of the top optical instrument manufactures.

About
From Glass Plates to Digital Images
With the slogan "you press the button, we do the rest," George Eastman in 1888 put the first
simple camera into the hands of a world of consumers. In so doing, he made what had been a
cumbersome and complicated process easy to use and accessible to nearly everyone.
Through the years, Kodak has led the way with an abundance of new products and processes that
have made photography simpler, more useful and more enjoyable. Today, our work increasingly
involves digital technology, combining the power and convenience of electronics with the quality
of traditional photography to produce systems that bring levels of utility and fun to the taking,
"making" and utilization of images.
What George Eastman began remains a goal of Eastman Kodak Company today, to provide
convenience and quality to our customers so more and more people can experience the special
wonders of photography and capture and re-live their more cherished moments.
