Nikon Australia is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW), taking place from 30 August – 5 September 2010.
Signing an agreement with the City of Melbourne, Nikon Australia’s involvement as the official camera partner represents the evolution of a new sponsorship strategy for the leading camera manufacturer.
In conjunction with Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Nikon is offering its My Nikon Life members the ultimate money-can’t-buy photography experience to rub shoulders with the fashion photography elite both on and off the catwalk.
Inspired by the fashion of MSFW and the iconic laneways of Melbourne, My Nikon Life members who upload a photo they have captured to www.mynikonlife.com.au have the opportunity to become Nikon’s Official 2010 MSFW photographer for a day! Entries should represent their interpretation of ‘street style’, together with a description of how their image illustrates their vision. A panel of judges will select two aspiring photographers to receive this ultimate fashion photography experience which includes:
Media accreditation for one day of MSFW 2010, including exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the MSFW media area at Melbourne Town Hall and the City Square Activation Hub.
A specially selected Nikon photographer to accompany the winners at the Lunch series and Designer series parades of the nominated day to provide some helpful advice and techniques on how to capture the best images and work effectively behind the scenes.
Access to the media risers at these parades to capture the fashion from the best view in the house for photographers.
The chance to be a part of the red carpet media at the 2010 MSFW Official Opening Party.
A double pass to the 2010 MSFW Official Opening Party and a selected partner event.
Nikon Australia Senior Marketing Manager, Nick Segger said the opportunity to partner with major events such as Melbourne Spring Fashion Week allows Nikon to show their commitment to the wider photography community.
“Melbourne Spring Fashion Week gives us the opportunity to provide educational and development opportunities for up and coming photographers with a keen eye for fashion, while continuing to offer first class support to our professional photographer network,” Segger said.
In addition to being the official camera partner, Nikon is offering photography enthusiasts of all levels a rare opportunity to learn from the best in the business, with free fashion photography lessons held throughout the duration of the event.
Eager photographers are encouraged to visit the Nikon School sessions located in the Lunch Series marquee at the City Square Activation Hub, where they will get a rare insight into the tricks of the rag trade from Australian fashion photography heavyweights Christian Blanchard, Monty Coles and Stefan Gosatti.
The 1.5 hour sessions will focus on a diverse range of fashion-specific photography topics, including shooting runway, editorial, creative lighting, capturing movement and motion picture with DSLRs. Session topics and times will be published on www.mynikonlife.com.au over the coming weeks.
“Nikon School and the My Nikon Life assignments have been developed by Nikon as part of our strategy to engage and educate the photography community from entry-level through to enthusiasts and professionals,” added Segger.
Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is Melbourne’s largest consumer fashion event, celebrating the arrival of new spring collections in-store and the upcoming spring racing carnival. The event will showcase Australia’s most talented and innovative designers, with Nikon professional photographers on hand to capture all the action on and off the catwalk.
During MSFW Nikon will provide technical support to all of its professional photographers via the Nikon Professional Services (NPS) centre located within the official MSFW media centre. The NPS centre will also have a variety of loan equipment available to registered photographers to provide access to Nikon’s extensive range of professional cameras and camera lenses.
