Olympus Appoint SLR Brand Ambassador
olympus080924.jpgOlympus Imaging Australia has announced the appointment of Australian Geographic Art Director and professional adventure/nature photographer Warren Field as its latest digital SLR brand ambassador.

As part of this strategic alignment, Olympus will provide Field with the latest Olympus digital equipment, including an Olympus E-3 and a selection of professional lenses from the world’s largest digital lens range.

Field’s passion and expertise lies in adventure and nature photography, with a particular focus on using isolating forms and colour. An Olympus enthusiast since 1985, Field has used the Olympus OM System for over 20 years and brings a lifetime of global professional photography experience to his newly appointed role.

“I look forward to embarking on this exciting new partnership with Olympus. The brand’s strong heritage in optical excellence and equipment reliability under sometimes extreme conditions has made it the natural camera choice for my photography, both personally and professionally. In my line of work, versatility and reliability are key. The Olympus E-3’s robust built, superb splash and dust proofing, and the compact and lightweight design of the overall system inclusive of the Zuiko Digital lenses, makes it the most versatile and high-performance digital SLR system for the adventure and travel photographer today,” said Field.

“The Olympus E-3 camera provides the rich, yet natural-looking colour response that is important for my photography, and the Zuiko Digital lenses are simply breathtaking for their wide aperture edge-to-edge sharpness with high contrast,” added Field.

Lucas Tan, Professional Photography Manager, Olympus Imaging Australia is delighted to be supporting such a talented Australian photographer, and long-time Olympus OM system user in his professional endeavours.

"Warren’s travel and adventure photography background makes him the ideal partner for our digital SLR brand which is driven by compact, highly portable and daring digital SLR technology – the ultimate solution for the professional photographer, the enthusiast, as well as the beginner looking for simplicity and ease of use. We look forward to sharing Field’s passion for photography, professional credentials, and experience with our brand, to engage with our key brand partners while supporting him in his quest to continue capturing adventure and travel photography of the highest quality,” said Tan.

As Olympus digital SLR ambassador, Field will utilise Olympus technologies for various global photography projects – including commissioned work by Australian Geographic and World Expeditions, a variety of photography exhibitions and global photography competitions.

Field will also play a key role in Olympus’ trade engagement program locally, using his experience with the versatile and high performance Olympus technology to provide special event support and educate key Olympus partners on the Olympus digital SLR offering.

About Olympus

In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world famous products.

"Olympus" has been used as a trademark since the time of Takachiho Seisakusho, the predecessor of Olympus Corporation.

In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara, the peak of Mt.Takachiho. The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus, like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara brought light to the world.

Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.

And in 2003, the company made a fresh start as Olympus Corporation, to show its willingness to establish a dynamic corporate brand by unifying the corporate name and the well-known brand.

In recent years, Olympus Corporation has focused on "Opto-Digital Technology" as its core competence, technological strengths that competitors cannot easily imitate, to maximize corporate value and to become one of the top optical instrument manufactures.
