Sony Australia today expanded its broad camcorder offering with the introduction of new innovative Handycam Projector models. Incorporated into a camcorder for the first time, the new HDR-PJ series features a built-in high contrast projector on the outside of the LCD panel, allowing users to simply project video and photos anywhere, anytime.

Simply project your videos so the whole family can enjoy

Delivering an unparalleled playback experience, Sony’s new HDR-PJ10, HDR-PJ30V and HDR-PJ50V Handycam camcorders feature a built-in video projector, which is seamlessly placed in the 3-inch flip-out LCD panel. The compact LED-based projector allows videos and images to be projected at up to 60–inches onto walls, ceilings or any flat surfaces. Coupled with the projector, advanced Clear Phase stereo speakers with S-master digital amplifiers produce clear, dynamic sound and deliver a whole new way to playback your favourite videos, without the need for additional cables, a TV or computer.

Low light performance just got better

Featured across the Handycam PJ series, users can experience stunning low-light sensitivity with
improved image clarity on the back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS Sensor. Designed specifically for
camcorders, the “Exmor R” sensor relocates the photo diodes above the support circuitry,
maximising the light gathering area per pixel and allowing users to capture even better results in
low light conditions.

Cancel out that camera shake

Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode provides powerful shake correction at wide angles, ideal for capturing fast moving footage, such as sporting events. This technology reduces the effect of hand shake to produce even smoother footage while walking or running.

Sharing is easy - Sony introduces Handycam camcorders with built-in projectors

With a high-magnification 42x extended zoom featured on the PJ10 and 17x extended zoom on the PJ30V and PJ50V, users can shoot far away subjects that were previously difficult to capture on a conventional lens. In addition, built-in GPS tagging with touch screen control is also featured on the PJ30V and PJ50V models, allowing users to view and tag shooting locations. Tagged videos can then be viewed via the Map Index function on the camcorder or via PC using the builtin Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software.

The PJ series Handycam camcorders are available from April 2011 with an RRP of $999 (HDRPJ10),
$1399 (HDR-PJ30V) and $1599 (HDR-PJ50V).

Further additions to the Handycam camcorder line up include:
- HDR-CX700V, boasting large storage options of 96GB and built-in GPS tagging
- HDR-CX130, featuring Optical Active SteadyShot and Sony’s renowned Exmor R CMOS

The HDR-CX130 has an RRP of $699 and HDR-CX700V has an RRP of $1799.
For entry level users, the HDR-XR160 offers an abundance of features, including 42x extended
zoom, Optical Active SteadyShot and a huge 160GB of HDD storage. Compact, lightweight and
offering great value, the new DCR-SX65 features 4GB of flash memory, 70x extended zoom, 3-
inch LCD touch screen and built-in LED video light with an RRP of $299.
