Olympus Mju 9010 & Mju 5010 Digital Cameras

olympus2010-0112.jpgIntroducing two new models to its popular Mju range, Olympus Imaging Corporation has launched the Mju 9010 and Mju 5010 to make image capture, storage and sharing easier than ever before.

Boasting a 10x zoom lens with 28mm[4] wide-angle shooting and 5x zoom lens with 26mm4 wide-angle shooting respectively, both the Mju 9010 and Mju 5010 offer HD movie recording and a practical internal USB charging capability so you can charge your camera while uploading still and moving images to your PC.

Combining slim, stylish designs with outstanding high-magnification zooming performance, the new Mju range brings innovative photo surfing capabilities to turn your camera into a mobile photo album. Using Olympus’ powerful new software solution called [ib] you can retouch and perfect images as well as organise and create your own personal collections and categorise by person, event, location, date or theme with ease. The software cleverly classifies the pictures according to the recording date automatically during upload to your PC and has the capability to recognise up to 16 faces as subjects to classify accordingly.

The 2GB and 1GB built in memory of the Mju 9010 and Mju 5010 respectively means that your camera is your very own portable photo album ensuring you can capture and share your memories wherever you go. By recording location information for a classified event or by person or location[5], you can also easily find the pictures you want to print, upload to your favourite social media site or share with friends and family wherever you are on your travels.

Gone are the days of worrying to remember to charge your camera as the internal USB charging capability means the camera automatically charges when you download images to your PC. You will also have the ability to download your favourite shots from your PC back to the camera and search desired pictures according to recording information such as date, iAUTO and scene mode and share and view them or on the camera screen.

Movie buttonCombined with HD movie capability (MPEG-4 AVC / H.264), both the Mju 9010 and Mju 5010 sport one-button movie recording making extended HDTV (1280 x 720 pixels) recording possible. Thanks to the advanced MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 movie compression format,[6] compatible with the SD memory card, recording can be started and stopped at the touch of a button.

Record HD movies at the touch of the red movie mode button.

The extended zoom capabilities for both the Mju 9010 and Mju 5010 are supported by a 14-megapixel[7] 1/2.33-inch CCD that works together with the high-resolution lens to capture brilliant, high-definition images featuring natural, life-like colours with impeccable detail.

About Olympus

In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world famous products.

"Olympus" has been used as a trademark since the time of Takachiho Seisakusho, the predecessor of Olympus Corporation.

In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara, the peak of Mt.Takachiho. The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus, like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara brought light to the world.

Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.

And in 2003, the company made a fresh start as Olympus Corporation, to show its willingness to establish a dynamic corporate brand by unifying the corporate name and the well-known brand.

In recent years, Olympus Corporation has focused on "Opto-Digital Technology" as its core competence, technological strengths that competitors cannot easily imitate, to maximize corporate value and to become one of the top optical instrument manufactures.
