Olympus SH-25MR Digital Camera
olympus20120208ba.jpg
Super slim digital camera with super zoom. The new Olympus SH-25MR packs GPS, fast autofocus and powerful zoom into the hands of photographers on the move.

Olympus Imaging Australia is further adding to its Traveller-series with the launch of the SH-25MR, a super-slim pocket super-zoom compact camera with a 12.5x wide angle zoom lens, 16 megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor, built-in GPS, Electronic Compass, Multi-Recording capability, touch-screen control and new Intelligent High Speed / High Sensitivity technology (iHS). It is designed for the photographer wanting a slim compact camera with a powerful zoom range, super-fast autofocus and response speeds and the latest GPS technology.
The new slim-line SH-25MR sports a high-performance 24-300mm super-zoom lens that utilises professional-grade ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) and Olympus proprietary Dual-Sided Aspherical lens elements to achieve the two goals of class-leading compactness and high imaging performance.

A newly developed iHS** image quality and speed enhancing technology ensures that superb picture quality is achieved even at high ISO settings in low-light conditions with extremely fast autofocus, start-up, response, and sequential shooting speeds. Image quality improvements are especially noticeable at high ISO settings with superb colour gradation and low picture noise, providing enhanced picture clarity.

Dual TruePic V image processors, working in tandem, enable the SH-25MR to capture two image data streams simultaneously from the 16 megapixel BSI-CMOS sensor. You can, for instance, simultaneously capture a Full HD video and take full-resolution photos, or two videos simultaneously (e.g., capture wide and close-up views of the same scene), or two still images with different framing, resolutions or properties at the same time. This unique capability enables imaging possibilities not possible in conventional single-processor digital cameras.

The latest fast-response GPS technology enables satellite location in as quickly as 10 seconds. The camera user simply pre-loads GPS satellite coordinate information taken from the internet into the camera via a computer to utilise this new feature. The names of 700,000 landmarks in 180 countries around the world are pre-programmed into the camera and are automatically displayed onscreen as you frame your shot. The built-in Electronic Compass makes geo-located photography even more precise.

For sharp and clear pictures, whether shooting in low-light situations or at maximum zoom range, the SH-25MR uses a Dual Image Stabilisation (IS) technology (digital stabilisation and ISO enhancement) in still-shooting to effectively reduce camera-shake. Multi-motion digital IS, enabled in video recording, provides powerful stabilisation that makes stable, handheld movie-capture whilst walking possible.
The new SH-25MR brings touch-screen convenience for enhanced ease of use.

A simple tap of the high-resolution LCD screen focuses the lens at the chosen point in the scene and takes the shot almost immediately. Other applications include LiveGuide touch control and touch-enabled picture playback.

Intelligent High-Speed / High-Sensitivity Technology

utilises the high drive speed and improved light capture capability of the latest BSI-CMOS sensor to enable much faster auto focusing, data transfer speeds, and high ISO photography with lower noise and enhanced picture quality.
Compared to conventional CMOS, Back Side Illuminated (BSI) sensors capture light more efficiently as light-blocking componentry is removed from the light path. The improved signal levels lead to significant improvements in image quality. Autofocus accuracy is further improved for low light shooting.

BSI CMOS sensors have twice the refresh rate or drive speed of previous generation sensors enabling the autofocus system to operate much faster, improving overall AF acquisition speeds.

About Olympus

In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world famous products.

"Olympus" has been used as a trademark since the time of Takachiho Seisakusho, the predecessor of Olympus Corporation.

In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara, the peak of Mt.Takachiho. The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus, like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara brought light to the world.

Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.

And in 2003, the company made a fresh start as Olympus Corporation, to show its willingness to establish a dynamic corporate brand by unifying the corporate name and the well-known brand.

In recent years, Olympus Corporation has focused on "Opto-Digital Technology" as its core competence, technological strengths that competitors cannot easily imitate, to maximize corporate value and to become one of the top optical instrument manufactures.
