The Olympus E-420 with the Ultra-slim ES-2528
Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL is a series of interchangeable lenses designed especially for use with Olympus digital SLR cameras. Featuring compliance with the Four Thirds System standard, these dedicated lenses maximise the potential of the high-performance image sensors used in digital SLR photography.

The newly developed Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL 25mm f2.8 ES-2528 is a lightweight single-focus standard ultra-slim snapshot lens with a focal length equivalent to 50 mm in 35mm camera format. It offers both excellent portability thanks to the compact and lightweight advantages of the Four Thirds System and very sharp, clear imaging performance.

Thin, lightweight ultra-slim snapshot lens with an overall length of 23.5 mm and weight of 95g Mastery of the latest optical design and manufacturing technology has resulted in a, lightweight ultra-slim snapshot lens with an overall length of only 23.5 millimetres and weight of 95 grams. It enables an easy-to-store, easy-to-carry camera system with go-anywhere portability.

With a focal length equivalent to 50 mm in 35mm film camera format, this standard ultra-slim snapshot lens provides an image angle very close to that of the naked eye. The result is a near-natural visual field making it an ideal lens for all-round shooting, whether that be a simple snapshot or a far more sophisticated portrait and landscape shooting.

Digital-dedicated, high-image-quality design

A unique double-sided aspherical lens element is employed to reduce the lens length and provide optimal aberration correction, achieving the sharp, clear image quality expected from a single-focus lens. A specially formulated lens coating optimized for shooting against light minimises ghosting and flare. With a large open aperture of f2.8 and a circular aperture diaphragm, this lens allows users to create beautiful portrait images with aesthetically pleasing defocused effects.

Excellent close-up shooting capability
Close-up shooting is possible at a minimum distance of 13 centimetres from the front of the lens.

Screw-in aluminium lens cap
The lens cap is made of lightweight aluminium and screws onto the lens. This ensures a sleek, streamlined exterior appearance.

Lens hood (optional)
Made of sleek, polished aluminium, the optional LH-43 Lens Hood allows users to attach the LC-34 Lens Hood Cap (included in the Lens Hood) or a 43-mm-diameter commercially available filter without spoiling the camera’s slim, stylish appearance.

About Olympus

In Greek mythology, Mt.Olympus is the home of the twelve supreme gods and goddesses. Olympus was named after this mountain to reflect its strong aspiration to create high quality, world famous products.

"Olympus" has been used as a trademark since the time of Takachiho Seisakusho, the predecessor of Olympus Corporation.

In Japanese mythology, it is said that eight million gods and goddesses live in Takamagahara, the peak of Mt.Takachiho. The name "Olympus" was selected as the trademark because Mt.Olympus, like Mt.Takachiho, was the home of gods and goddesses. This trademark is also imbued with the aspiration of Olympus to illuminate the world with its optical devices, just like Takamagahara brought light to the world.

Takachiho Seisakusho was renamed Takachiho Optical Co., Ltd. in 1942 when optical products became the mainstay of the company. In 1947, the name was changed again to Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in an attempt to enhance its corporate image.

And in 2003, the company made a fresh start as Olympus Corporation, to show its willingness to establish a dynamic corporate brand by unifying the corporate name and the well-known brand.

In recent years, Olympus Corporation has focused on "Opto-Digital Technology" as its core competence, technological strengths that competitors cannot easily imitate, to maximize corporate value and to become one of the top optical instrument manufactures.
