GALLERY ONEANDREW MERRY - EDGEWOOD: AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY OF NEW SUBURBIA This exhibition documents the creation of new suburbia in the far western edges of Sydney from an aerial point of view. Reflecting our consumer culture, the Australian house has become desired, even fetishised, since the property boom. In one of the most urbanised countries in the world the recently rural is enmeshed in the relentless spread of new suburbia. GALLERY TWO DACCHI DANG - LIMINAL Liminal explores the landscape, society and architecture of France, and attempts to subvert France’s colonial influence by using the French landscape to evoke the social and cultural atmosphere of Vietnam. Presented in a circular configuration the installation suggests layers of meaning, building a relationship between diverse cultural perspectives. GALLERY THREE NEW WORK: EXPANDED AND COMPRESSED - JUSTIN ANDREWS, GUY BENFIELD, LANE CORMICK, KATE FULTON, KYLE JENKINS, NATASHA JOHNS–MESSENGER AND OSCAR YANEZ. CURATED BY DANNY LACY New Work: Expanded and Compressed brings together challenging and insightful new projects by seven contemporary visual artists who ‘expand and compress’ their artistic practice across painting, drawing, video, photography, sculpture, installation and conceptual based practices. The exhibition aims to highlight photography and video and features a range of innovative work, from large scale geometric wall drawings to intimate perceptive journeys of form and space. GALLERY FOUR GABRIELLA MANGANO AND SILVANA MANGANO - IF...SO...THEN The Mangano twins engage with drawing as a means of investigating a multi-layered discourse in language, relationships and spatial architecture. if…so…then is influenced by their childhood experiences, producing a synchronised performance involving an exchange in movement and drawing. PROJECTION WINDOW 7 DAYS - AFTER DARK WILLIAM ANDERSON - AUSTRALIA William Anderson’s analogue animation explores the use of colour to create the illusion of simultaneous movement in opposite directions. His work is underpinned by invention, mischievousness, interest in Jasper Johns and regard for the experimental film and animation of Michael Lee and Jonas Balsaitis. |
