Intensive Weekend Workshop - Friday 31 August to Sunday 2 September 2007Following an overwhelmingly positive response to ACP Workshop fieldtrips run in 2006 and the resulting exhibition held at the Jindabyne Visitors Centre, the Australian Centre for Photography is pleased to announce a stimulating new weekend workshop - The Blue Mountains Photographic Experience. This is an opportunity for a fun weekend away in a beautiful location and the chance to fuel your passion for photography and build on your technical skills through a series of practical field trips, tutorials and critique sessions conducted by leading Australian landscape photographers Murray van der Veer and Mark Lang. The intensive weekend course will be held at Jemby Rinjah Eco Lodge. In the heart of the Blue Mountains National Park, the Lodge offers the perfect back drop for this experience, immersing students in the sights and sounds of the natural environment. The Lodge provides accommodation, conference facilities, catering and will be the point of departure for dawn, evening and daytime shoots along easy-to-medium-level walking trails featuring forests and waterfalls, mountains and gullies. Breaks will allow students to relax in their cabins or explore the local village. Following the intensive weekend shoot, an optional digital post-production workshop will be held in ACP's state-of-the-art digital suite. All students will have the opportunity to exhibit their Blue Mountain images in a group exhibition at the Australian Centre for Photography gallery. Prior to the weekend, two tele-conferences will be provided prior to the weekend giving students and tutors the chance to meet one another and discuss preparations. Students will then meet at Jemby Rinjah Eco Lodge, Blackheath on Friday evening, 31 August 2007. Field trips and tutorials will run on Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September 2007. The cost of The Blue Mountains Photographic Experience is $950 and includes two nights accommodation, meals and refreshments, conference calls, all tutorials and field trips, the post-production workshop and exhibition installation. Partners are welcome to come along and stay at the lodge for an additional $30 per night. Places are strictly limited |

About Australian Centre for Photography (ACP)
Established in 1973, the ACP opened the doors of its first gallery in Paddington
Street, in 1974. In 1981 the Centre moved to Oxford Street where it remains today.
It is now Australia's longest running contemporary art space.
It is the ACP's mission to promote and enrich the understanding of photo-based art
in Australia and this is achieved through a dynamic mix of exhibition, education and
publication. In its blend of activities and range of photographic media, the Centre
is unique in Australia.
ACP opened a Workshop in 1976. Originally in a separate building, this is now housed
within the Centre in Oxford Street and includes black and white and colour darkroom
facilities, a digital suite, lighting studio and library. In 1983 ACP launched the
journal Photofile. It is now the leading photo-based art magazine in Australia,
available through newsagents and specialist bookshops nationally.
Currently located in the heart of Paddington, Sydney's gallery district, ACP houses
two exhibition spaces; a foyer display area and a Project Wall for emerging artists;
an extensive workshop with comprehensive curriculum and public access facilities; a
specialist bookshop and library.
The ACP is a not-for-profit organisation supported by the NSW Government through the
NSW Ministry for the Arts, the Australia Council, the Australian Government's arts
funding and advisory body, and the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of
the Australian, State and Territory Governments. The ACP raises over half of its
revenue from non-government sources.
