Epson Leads The Projector Market
Epson dominated the Australian projector market in the second quarter of 2007 with a 21% share of the 23,675 units sold, giving it a leading market share of 17% for the year to date and retaining its market leadership from 2006.

Epson leads the largest market segment, XGA resolution projectors, with a 27% share of this segment which accounts for 62% of the total projector market, according to the latest report from industry analyst IT Market Insights.

Epson with 28% share also leads the largest segment ranked according to projector brightness, the 2000-2999 ANSI Lumen projectors, which represents 64% of the total market.

Mike Pleasants, Epson's Marketing Communications Director, said Epson's strong performance year on year resulted from several new and innovative 3LCD projectors released over the past 12 months, and reflected its dominance of the global projector market.

"Our range of projectors for the education and business markets has advanced security features, wireless connectivity, PC free operation including from USB drives, quick start-up and instant shutdown, advanced multi-screen display, PC and Mac compatibility, high brightness for every environment, and low maintenance and running costs," Mr Pleasants said.

"And Epson's home theatre projectors including the high definition TW1000 with true 1080p x 1920 resolution are rated second to none for image quality and ease of use."

Epson had a 21% share of the 1080p/i high definition home theatre market in Q2 2007, according to IT Market Insights.

Epson's world-leading 3LCD technology in all Epson projectors has no moving parts and no interruptions to the light path allowing it to generate bright, natural images and smooth and sharp playback of graphics, images and video content with no colour break-up.

And 3LCD projectors operate at lower lamp temperatures than other projection systems of similar brightness, allowing quick start up and instant shut down and making the projector quieter with less fan noise. Most importantly lower lamp temperatures means lower power consumption and lower costs of ownership.

"Epson is now making its own energy efficient E-TORL lamps, further cutting the costs for projector owners through lower lamp costs and reduced energy use," Mr Pleasants said.
