Get snapping: Ted’s Cameras competition celebrates the best of Australia’s cities
Just in time for World Photography Day (19 August),Ted’s Cameras is celebrating its 40th birthday and giving you the ultimate present – the chance to win the latest in digital camera technology in its online photography competition, Celebrate Your City.
From Monday 9 August, grab your camera and capture a shot that celebrates your city. Zoom in from above, sneak a shot around the corner, take a quick pic on the move or a night time scene as the city sleeps. You don’t need to be a pro to put your city in the frame; all you need is a keen eye at the right moment.
Managing Director of Ted’s Cameras, Richard Robertson, said the Celebrate Your City competition encourages everyone to pick up a camera and celebrate their cities the best way they know how – in pictures.
“This is a great opportunity for people to celebrate World Photography Day and focus on their city in a new light – it will be fascinating to see what people come up with,” he said.
It’s free and easy to enter – simply visit www.teds.com.au to upload up to five of your best shots and a short description of how they celebrate your city. The three entries with the most online votes by the public will win one of three Nikon DSLR camera kits valued at a total of $5,000 – with everything you need to explore the world of photography.
Robertson encourages entrants to rally their friends, families and colleagues to vote online for their photo.
“People can view and vote for the pictures as soon as they are uploaded, so remember to send everyone a link to your picture and get voting,” he said.
“Just as when we opened the first Ted’s Cameras store 40 years ago, we’re dedicated to encouraging all levels of photography and helping everyone celebrate and share their images,” Robertson said.
Entries are open from Monday 9 August to Sunday 26 September with public online voting running from Monday 9 August to Friday 8 October. The three winners will be announced online on Tuesday 12 October.
