Daylesford Foto Biennale 2007 Call For Venues
Plans are well advanced for the second Daylesford Foto Biennale International festival of Photography in June 2007.

The committee is calling for exhibition, seminar, workshop and miscellaneous associated events proposals from photographers and photo based artists from across all photographic disciplines.

The 2007 festival is scheduled to host over 75 separate events, including exhibitions, seminars, workshops, conventions and other associated photographic events.

DFB’07 is inviting you to take part in this dynamic international photographic event. Proposal guidelines and guideline notes can be downloaded from www.daylesfordfotobiennale.org Email to info@daylesfordfotobiennale.org or write to PO Box 569 Daylesford 3460. Closing date for submissions is June 30th 2006

DFB’05 was a resounding success. Anecdotal feedback during DFB’05 was most encouraging from all sources, including artists, venues, local business and visitors alike. For example, crowds were much thicker than historically for the month of June - especially over weekends. Enquiries at the Daylesford visitor information centre were up by 8% over the previous year’s figures, in spite of some inclement weather over the middle period of the month. Volunteer staff was overwhelmed by the compliments received from visitors to the various exhibitions and to the info caravan. Throughout the month we were approached by photographers, venue owners and sponsors not involved in DFB’05 regarding the potential of being included in the 2007 event.

Here’s what other people said about DFB’05

“The most ambitious expression of the town’s arts profile was the recent four-week, multi venue Foto Biennale, which amazed nay-sayers by having a national and international focus…” The Age, 25th July

“For photography enthusiasts, be they amateurs or professionals, this was a festival well worth supporting for the inspiration and interaction it offered. I’d highly recommend that everybody catch the next one, schedule for 2007.” Robert Keeley, Australian Photography, Sept 2005

"Roll on Daylesford Foto Biennale ‘07. Australian photography needs you!" Australian Photo Review, Sept 2005

“The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) wholeheartedly backs the Daylesford Photography Biennale and look forward to being involved as this event grows over the years to take its place along side the other great photo biennales around the world… Put it in your diary and make sure that you come to Daylesford and be inspired!!” Philip Kuruvita, National President AIPP

“We’ve had hundreds of people through and they all said how good the festival was. To have that many people around in June is excellent.” Mark Reid, Clayfire Gallery

“I found DFB to be an amazing weekend in terms of gallery visitations. We roughly saw just over 3,000 people through for the long weekend - well in excess of what we would have done by probably around half. Most people were walking in with brochure in hand and rucksack as if they were on the DFB trail specifically looking at the photographic work.” Richard Monty, The Pantechnicon Art Gallery
