Epson Australia has released the new UltraChrome K3 eight colour ink set with the new
Light, Light Black (LLK) ink cartridge to suit photographic, graphic arts and pre-press
professionals' high quality requirements on Epson's new 800 series large format printers. The UltraChrome K3 ink set includes Light, Light Black (LLK), along with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Light Black and either Matte Black or Photo Black, to create stunning photographic and limited edition fine art prints, and highly colour accurate results for printing professionals everywhere. More neutral greys are produced for black and white photographic images, and Light, Light Black (LLK) ink noticeably extends the tonal range so that shadow to highlight areas can be easily reproduced and shade transitions are smoother. The combination of Light Black ink and Light, Light Black (LLK) ink to smooth out tone transition also further reduces visible grain and bronzing for superb smooth results. The new formula resin in UltraChrome K3 ink improves the glossiness of prints on most media for beautiful photo quality colour and black and white prints with a visibly smoother sheen over the total print surface for professional results. The UltraChrome K3 ink set exceeds the colour gamut of the current UltraChrome ink with increased coverage in red, which greatly improves the rendition of each colour, perfect for printing gallery quality colour photographs, fine art prints and colour accurate proofs. Set to make huge impact on the photo, fine art and proofing markets, just like UltraChrome ink did three years ago, UltraChrome K3 ink will set a new standard in high quality, long lasting, stable ink technology. UltraChrome K3 ink has an improved Photo Black ink that produces a high D-Max rating on glossy papers, increasing image contrast by producing a denser black on the final print. With a lower degree of metamerism than previous Epson UltraChrome inks and a delta E factor of less than 2, the new Epson UltraChrome K3 ink produces more constant tonal characteristics when viewed under a variety of light sources without major colour shifts, so there is no need to print numerous copies for viewing under different light sources. For professionals needing fast results, UltraChrome K3 ink stabilises colours in 30 minutes, so there is no colour shift once it has dried, making it ideal for contact proofing applications. The new UltraChrome K3 ink has a print permanence of up to 80 years* for colour and more than 200* years for black and white prints mounted in glass frames, a critical requirement for professional and fine art retailers. Epson UltraChrome K3 ink will be on display in the Stylus Pro 800 series at PICA on 13-15 May 2005 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and at PacPrint on 24-28 May 2005 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
