Epson, the global leader in projector sales, continues to set new benchmarks in home
theatre projector performance with the release of the high definition Epson EMP-TW2000
with DeepBlack(TM) technology and a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.Epson's latest home theatre projector extends Epson's technology leadership in projectors with a range of new and innovative features that provide the ultimate high definition (1080 x 1920) image from a new optical engine using three D7 Crystal Clear Fine LCD panels, richer and deeper blacks, a greater range of colours and tones, a sharper image, and a quieter, more energy efficient projector for a truly outstanding home theatre experience. The Epson TW2000 introduces Epson's innovative DeepBlack(TM) technology which produces the ultimate deep, rich blacks in smoothly flowing images from Epson's three new D7 high definition Crystal Clear Fine LCD panels. DeepBlack technology uses phase control light management systems with each of the three D7 LCD panels to reduce the amount of unfiltered light, thus deepening blacks and increasing the native contrast ratio of the projector by a factor of about four. With the auto-iris feature enabled the EMP-TW2000 can achieve a 50,000:1 contrast ratio, giving rich, deep blacks, vivid colours and subtle smooth tones, all in smooth flowing and lifelike images. Epson's new D7 LCD panel has a 20% improvement in aperture ratio that improves light transmission and reduces even further the microscopic gap between pixels, increasing brightness and contrast at the viewing screen. With a 12-bit LCD driver capable of controlling 68.7 billion colours to boost accuracy in reproducing subtle differences in colour and tonal gradation, the D7 LCD panels deliver vivid, smoothly flowing images from movies and games alike. The Epson EMP-TW2000 has seven preset colour modes and is capable of displaying the full range of colours in the x.v.Colour space which is 1.8 times larger than the sRGB colour space used by previous projectors. x.v.Colour or xvYCC is an extended-gamut YCC colour space for video applications. Natural and vivid colours can be displayed more accurately with x.v.Colour technology. x.v.Colour output is available in some digital video cameras and Blu-Ray DVD players, and while movies are currently compressed into the sRGB colour space for transfer to DVD, this is changing. With a wide zoom range of 2.1x and high resolving power in the projection lens, colour aberration is diminished considerably thanks to the precise arrangement of a large calibre aspherical glass lens and extra low dispersion glass which has a newly developed ultra-low reflection multi-coating to minimize flare and allow the images to be represented brightly in sharp, ultra high contrast. For flexibility in installing or using the EMP-TW2000 in any shape or size room, the vertical and horizontal lens shift function allows the user to reposition the image up to nearly two screen widths laterally and close to three screens vertically without altering the shape or compromising the image quality. This useful function allows you to place the projector off to one side or above your head and still view an undistorted image on the screen. The TW-2000 has 1080p/24 fps compatibility (2-2/48hz or 2-3/60hz pulldown function) selectable in the On Screen Display. With 2-3 pulldown the moving image is smoother, while with 2-2 pulldown each frame length is same as the original film and it plays slightly faster. The TW-2000 also has two HDMI 1.3 input terminals capable of receiving nearly double the information of previous HDMI versions, expanding the number of available colours considerably. Connecting with a next generation HDMI.1.3 compatible DVD player makes it possible to enjoy even more colourful high definition images. Epson's patented small and energy efficient 170W E-TORL lamp is capable of projecting an impressive 1600 ANSI lumen, allowing users to enjoy sharp and clear images with vivid colours when needed, and smooth subtle tones and deep blacks in critical scenes. Epson developed the high performance ETORL lamp, featured in the EMP-TW2000 and many other Epson projectors, which effectively eliminates light leakage and minimises light diffraction. The ETORL lamp system has an inbuilt cinema filter which allows for wider colour spaces and colour purity. This Epson innovation can optically adjust the colour tone for accurate colour reproduction. 3LCD projectors operate at lower lamp temperatures than other projection systems of similar brightness, allowing for quick start up and shut down and most importantly, making the projector quieter with less fan noise. With seven preset colour modes - Dynamic, Living Room, Natural, Theatre, Theatre Black 1 and 2, and x.v.Colour - the EMP-TW2000 allows you to select the mode that best suits your viewing environment. For those who like to fine tune the projector to the precise room dynamics, a powerful six-axis colour adjustment capability gives you total control over your video output. The EMP-TW2000 has an easy to use remote with a full range of functions. The remote has a light activation button for use in a dark room. To match its positioning as the premium projector in the Epson home theatre range the EMP-TW2000 comes with a three year warranty on the projector and the lamp that matches Epson's confidence in the quality of the ETORL lamp, which is also made by Epson. The Epson EMP-TW2000 high definition digital projector will be available in December through selected AV specialists. |
